Gionee the chinese mobile manufacturer has been flowing their Android smartphones in India which are surprisingly good. This time it is Gionee Elife E5 the super slim and colorful mobile handset. The Gionee Elife E5 arrived at our office and we tested the device and have the results below.
Design:
The Elife E5 has a rectangular slab design having colorful unibody build which comes in yellow, white and black colors. Elife E5 has a polycarbonate build which is sturdy and feels solid. Apart from following this pattern, the placement of buttons is also different on this handset. We have attached a video which gives more insights about the handset.
Display:
The 4.8-inch display on the Gionee Elife E5 is absolutely beautiful. Elife E5 has a Super Amoled HD display with good viewing angles and decent day light performance. We found this display to be some high quality which is not common with chinese smartphone manufacturers.
Camera:
Camera on the Gionee Elife E5 packs a 8MP rear camera with LED flash and a 5MP front-facing camera. Both of them can shoot videos up to 1080p@30fps. The sample and the camera interface has been attached in the video above.
Hardware:
This E5 features the next gen MediaTek MT6589T turbo processor that is it will now boost up to 1.5GHz with 1GB of RAM. It has 16GB internal memory and does not support any kind of expandable option. It also has a microSIM card slot at the side. Powered by 2000mAh non-removable battery and supporting WiFi/Bluetooth/3G it is comparable to the leading handsets in the same or a little above price range.
Software:
Gionee Elife E5 runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean mobile operating system and has been customized to make it look different from the others. There are few applications which comes-preinstalled like the theme manager, etc. to enhance the user experience.
Price:
Gionee Elife E5 comes for about Rs. 19,000 and is available from leading retail outlets and online e-commerce websites like Flipkart across the country. It comes in Yellow, white and Black color options with a white flip cover for those willing to cover the beauty in order to protect it from damages.
Conclusion:
Gionee Elife E5 is a solid device with the unibody design. It is one of the few handsets from Gionee which supports only single SIM. The Super AMOLED HD display on this device is amazing and feels awesome to use. Other than this we have the pricing almost right and the camera too performs evenly well. The colorful build is what we have to admire about. Overall the smartphone, performs well and being on Android 4.2 it packs all the latest features and hope it is updated with Android 4.3 soon.
