Instagram is no longer the photo-sharing platform it started out to be. It is primarily known for Reels now. In India, the Meta-owned app is also the primary platform for short-form content creators as TikTok is banned in the country.
Now, the social media platform has rolled out a new feature that will allow users to download Reels posted by public accounts. These Reels can be accessed through the saved Reels tabs on the app or from their camera roll.
Previously, Instagram users could only share Reels on public profiles in stories or remix them. Now, users will be able to easily share their downloaded Reels to other platforms.
It is to be noted that the downloaded Reels will feature a watermark that showcases the Instagram handle of the creator. Also, users can turn off the Reels download feature.
