The Dell Alienware x15 R1 comes with a starting price of $1,999.99 (approx Rs 1,45,800). Whereas the Alienware x17 R1 price starts at $2,099.99 (approx Rs 1,53,100).
Limited configurations of the new laptops are now available in the US (full configuration will go on sale from June 15). As of now, there is no information about the Indian price or launch date.
Additionally, the Alienware m15 R6 and Dell G15 systems are also now available (full config on Jun. 18). While the Alienware m15 R6 costs $1,299.99 (starting), the Dell G15 (TGL) comes at $949.99 (starting).

The new Alienware laptops feature a compact build (touted to be the thinnest in their segment). The Alienware x15 is the “world’s most powerful sub-16mm 15-inch gaming laptop” to date (15.9mm of thickness).
Dell claims that the X-series features “patent-pending cooling technologies, the latest performance components, framerate-splitting displays, and Legend 2.0 design features”.
Both Alienware x15 R1 and Alienware x17 R1 come with 11th Gen Intel Core H-series mobile processors and Alienware Cryo-TechTM cooling technology.
The new gaming laptops feature Alienware Legend 2.0 design that includes Dark Core chassis (adds a black keyboard deck to reduce screen reflections). A single, continuous loop of stadium lighting (programmable) illuminates the rear hexagon venting pattern.
Additionally, the Alienware x17 comes with an optional Cherry MX mechanical keyboard that features German stainless-steel mechanical components and a 3.5mm ultra-low-profile design.
The Alienware x15 R1 and Alienware x17 R1 gaming laptops support a maximum graphics power of 110W and 165W, respectively. Let’s take a closer look:

The new laptop is powered by up to Intel Core i9-11900H processor along with up to Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 GPU (8GB dedicated GDDR6 memory), up to 32GB DDR4 RAM, and up to 4TB storage.
The Alienware x15 R1 is backed by an 87WHr battery (paired with a 240W power adapter). It comes with a Windows Hello IR camera for biometric login.
Connectivity options on the gaming laptop include USB Type-C and USB-A ports. It also comes with a bundled USB Type-C-to-Ethernet adapter.

Cooling Technology
The Alienware Cryo-TechTM cooling technology uses Element 31, an exclusive thermal interface material (TIM) concocted from Encapsulated Gallium-Silicone liquid metal compound.
This material exists between the CPU and its thermal elements to disperse heat and mitigate spikes in core temperatures from affecting the system’s performance.
Additionally, an exclusive Alienware Quad Fan design blows air efficiently through the system, chassis, and internal hotspots.
Also, a Smart Fan control technology utilizes AI to enable each fan to independently spin up, slow down, or remain steady according to various sensors placed around core system components.
Design and Display
The Alienware x15 R1 is the company’s slimmest gaming laptop. It has a thickness of 15.9mm and weighs 2.27 kilograms (up to 2.36 kilograms for the highest configuration).
The gaming laptop sports a 15.6-inch display with 1080p resolution/ 360Hz refresh rate or 1440p resolution/ 240Hz refresh rate options. You can also get ComfortView Plus (hardware-based low-blue-light technology).

The new laptop comes with a similar design and features as the x15 R1 model. However, it sports a larger 17.3-inch display with 1080p resolution/ 360Hz refresh rate and 1440p resolution/ 120Hz refresh rate options.
In terms of dimensions, the Alienware x17 R1 comes with 20.9mm of thickness and weighs around 3.02kg (base model).
The gaming laptop is powered by up to Intel Core i9-11980HK processor along with up to Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 GPU (16GB GDDR6 memory), up to 64GB DDR4 RAM, and up to 4TB storage.
Connectivity options on the gaming laptop include USB Type-C and USB-A ports. It also comes with a built-in Ethernet port.

Conclusion
With the new X-series, Dell aims to offer the highest gaming performance on the go, that too in a thin form factor and without heating issues.
Dell claims that the collaboration with Intel helped in achieving “one of the thinnest form factors ever seen in a PC of this caliber”.
To manage heat, the company is said to have “discovered new materials and several new engineering methods, including five patent-pending, exclusive to Alienware”.
Additionally, the X-series gaming laptops come with a Thermal Control Circuit offset (TCC offset) that lets you set a “cruise control” limit to the CPU temperature.
You can select from five Tailored Power States – Full Speed (max power), performance mode (graphics priority), balanced mode (balanced CPU/GPU), battery saver (low-temperature priority), and quiet mode (acoustics priority).
Additional features include DirectX Raytracing, AlienFX stadium lighting (with up to 100 micro-LEDS on the x17/ 90 on the x15), and sustainable packaging (made from 92% recycled or renewable materials).
