- 8GB RAM
- 16GB internal storage
- 4-megapixel camera
- Two microphones
- Full HD recording capability
The AWS DeepLens Camera is the company’s first deep learning-enabled wireless video camera. The e-commerce giant’s AWS has collaborated with Intel for the new camera. It is powered by an Intel Atom X5 processor along with 8GB RAM and 16GB internal storage. The embedded graphics support object detection and recognition. The wireless camera features a 4-megapixel camera and two microphones. It can record full HD (1080p) videos.
The new camera comes with the preconfigured frameworks that support AI and machine learning. It comes pre-loaded with AWS Greengrass for local computation and can operate with SageMaker (simplifies the deployment of AI models) and open source AI services like Google’s TensorFlow and Facebook’s Caffe2. It also supports Apache MXNet.
“You can program this thing to do almost anything you can imagine so you can imagine programming the camera with computer vision models so if you recognize a license plate coming into your driveway it will open a garage door, or you can program an alarm if your dog gets on the couch,” said Andy Jassy, CEO, AWS.
The AWS DeepLens Camera uses Intel-optimized deep learning software tools/libraries to run real-time computer vision models directly on the device. This reduces cost and real-time responsiveness. It can run pre-trained or custom AI models to perform computer vision tasks such as facial recognition, sentiment analysis, or object identification. The new camera can also recognize a variety of activities like playing the guitar.
