Coolpad has launched its latest budget smartphone in the Indian market, called the Coolpad Note 5 Lite. Design
The Coolpad Note 5 Lite flaunts its metal unibody design with curves around at the edges for a comfortable grip. It fits comfortably in one palm without causing any discomfort even after long hours of usage.
The front is dominated by a 5-inch display that is covered with 2.5 curved glass on top. Above the 5-inch display, there is an 8 mega pixel front snapper along with front LED flash and some sensors. Below the screen, you get three touch capacitive buttons which are not backlit.
On the right edge, you get the power button and hybrid dual SIM slot.
Volume buttons are located on the left.
Bottom edge houses microUSB port and primary microphone while top edge has the 3.5mm audio jack. At the back, there is a 13 mega pixel rear camera along with LED flash, fingerprint scanner, Coolpad branding and speakers.
The camera module, fingerprint sensor as well antennas have silver linings. The handset measures 145.3×72.3×8.7 mm, weighs 148 grams and comes in Gold and Dark Grey color options. Overall design and build quality of the phone are good and we are impressed with how perfectly it fits in one palm and doesn’t make the user feel uncomfortable even after extended usage.
Display
The smartphone features a 5- inch HD IPS 2.5D curved glass display with 1280×720 pixels resolution. It has a bright and vivid screen with good viewing angles. The colors are accurate and sunlight legibility is also good. Coolpad Note 5 Lite’s screen is a visual delight and is suitable for watching videos and playing games.
Camera
For photography lovers, it comes with a 13 mega pixel auto focus rear camera with LED flash. There is also an 8 mega pixel front facing camera onboard accompanied by an LED flash. You get several modes in the camera app, such as Night mode, Video mode, Photo mode, Pro mode, Beauty mode and GIF mode, among others. The camera app also offers support for QR code and barcode scanner. Both front and rear cameras take good images with decent amount of detailing and clarity. The front camera supports HDR. For selfie lovers, the front LED flash is a boon as it produces bright images even in poor lighting conditions. Overall, the camera quality of the phone is good for the price.
Hardware & Software
The Note 5 Lite packs a 64-bit 1.0GHz quad core MediaTek MT6735 processor paired with Mali – T720 GPU. It houses 3GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory with expandable support via microSD card. On the software front, it runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Apps launch quickly, multitasking is smooth and it plays light to moderate games with ease. There were no lag or heating issues that we faced during our time with the phone.
Battery & Connectivity
Equipped with a 2500mAh battery, the phone easily survives for a day on single charge. Connectivity options include 4G LTE, 3G / HSPA+, EDGE / GPRS, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS and Micro USB.

The Coolpad Note 4 Lite is a great package and is ought to give tough competition to other smartphones in the price segment.
