The Canon PowerShot Zoom essentially acts as a telescope. It allows users to zoom over a large distance and take photos/ videos of the zoomed-in subject.
Canon claims that the new digital camera can be used while watching a game at a sports stadium, during birdwatching, or capturing facial expressions during stage performances.

The Canon PowerShot Zoom sports a 1/3-inch 12-megapixel CMOS sensor with a variable aperture of f/5.6 to f/6.3. It allows you to capture Full-HD 30p videos.
The new camera features a three-way one-touch switchable button that lets you view at 100mm to 400mm optical zoom, and up to 800mm digital zoom.

The Canon PowerShot Zoom sports a 0.39-inch OLED-based Electronic Viewfinder (EVF) with approximately 2.36 million dots. It weighs 145 grams.
The new camera comes with inbuilt microphone support and a microSD card slot. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and a USB Type-C port.
With the Canon Camera Connect app, users can easily connect the camera to their smartphone and use it as a Remote LiveView to see the frame from the camera’s viewfinder.
Additional features on the Canon PowerShot Zoom pocket-sized monocular telephoto camera include autofocus, face tracking, and optical image stabilization.

The Canon PowerShot Zoom is priced in the US at $299.99 (approx Rs 21,900). It comes in a single White color option.
The new camera will be available in the US in late November. As of now, there is no information about the Indian price or launch date.
Before the launch, the point-and-shoot monocular camera was tested under a crowdfunding project in Japan.
