Netflix app is one of the most popular ways to spend free time. It allows subscribers around the globe to stream great series and films.

The app also allows you to download movies and TV shows to your smartphone, so you can continue your binge-watching experience without incurring high internet charges.

The ‘Smart Downloads’ feature automatically downloads new episodes of your favorite TV shows once you’ve finished the ones stored on the device (it deletes the episode you just watched from your device).

Now, the streaming giant has expanded the ‘Smart Downloads’ feature to keep you enertained during long commutes or situations without Internet access.

The new “Downloads for You” feature can automatically download movies and TV shows that you might like. Here’s how to turn on the opt-in feature inside Netflix:

• Open the Netflix Android app
• Then, tap on the ‘Downloads’ tab
• Next, hit the toggle next to ‘Downloads for You’
• Now, on the next screen, allot storage space you want to dedicate for Downloads for You
• Next, tap ‘Turn On’
• That’s it!

You can deactivate the Downloads for You toggle in the Netflix app. You can also increase or decrease the storage amount it takes up from ‘Downloads’ > ‘Smart Downloads’.

According to Netflix, 3GB is enough for 12 movies and TV shows. The storage space reserved for automatic downloads will not be used by manual downloads.

While the new ‘Downloads for You” feature is available now on Android devices, the company is still testing it on iOS platform.

“Three years ago, we introduced Smart Downloads so you can find the next episode of your favorite show — even when you’re on the go,” said Patrick Flemming, director of product innovation, Netflix in a Netflix blog.

“Now, we want to make discovering your next new favorite series or film quick and easy whether you’re connected or not. Today we’re launching Downloads for You, a new feature that automatically downloads recommended shows or movies to your mobile device based on your tastes,” he added.

The ‘Smart Downloads’ feature is very easy to use. Now, when you find yourself stuck without the internet, you will have something to watch.
