Panasonic has launched its first and flagship smartphone in India on 16th May 2013 in New Delhi India. The Phone is called Panasonic P51 which is a mighty phone, in fact in terms of form factor, its quite large with a 5 inch display. The screen of P51 offers a 5 inch touchscreen HD display with a 1280×720 pixels display resolution. The phone is given a premium look and comes with a premium leather Flip cover and a capacitive stylus with it. It has been priced at Rs. 26,900 MRP.
The Panasonic P51 is powered by a 1.2 GHz quad core CP, 1GB or RAM and runs Android Jelly Bean OS right out of the box. It has an 8 Megapixel camera with autofocus and flash along with a 1.3 MP front facing camera. The rear camera as well as front camera are both capable of HD video recording.
Micromax has launched yet another product in the Canvas series after the recently launched Micromax Canvas 3D A115 (see video review). This new Canvas phone is called the Micromax Canvas Doodle A111 comes with a capacitive Stylus with the phone and has a 5.3 inch display with 854×400 pixels resolution and just 9.9 mm thickness. The MRP on the box is Rs. 15999 but the street price or MOP is around Rs. 12999. The phone is available for sale online at Snapdeal already.
Nokia has announced is new Asha 501 globally from India which is one of the largest feature phones markets for Nokia. The new phones use high quality build, strong materials, come with vibrant colour options, expandable memory, capacitive touch screen and high quality cameras. The Asha series get their name from Hindi word “Asha” which means hope, signifying the hope and aspiration from these affordable devices. The Asha series have up to 18% market share in their price segment. The Asha series phones also use Nokia Xpress browser compression technology to speed up browsing.

The Fastlane technology of Asha offers two different home screen which is one for the social network, updates an notes and other one for Apps. Nokia also claims that the performance of the Asha 501 is one of its USPs. Nokia has SLAM sharing technology for sharing pictures and files which uses Bluetooth transfer with other Asha phones in the proximity with the SLAM feature. This is something parallel to BUMP on iPhone or s-beam on Samsung.
Talking about the software platform, the Asha 501 is based on Symbian S40 platform, which we though is out, but Nokia has given it a second life with the 501. Interestingly, Nokia is branding it as Asha platform.
Nokia Asha 501 offers 3.2 MP camera. The initial model of the Asha 501 is a 2G and EDGE enabled, but Nokia will follow up with newer models with 3G options.

Nokia has also tied up with Operators and Facebook to offer Facebook for FREE on certain operator networks like Idea mobile using their Nokia Asha 501. This will give a good boost to the sales of Asha phones and also to operators.
