Asus has announced yet another smartphone in its Zenfone series at CES 2017. Called the Asus Zenfone AR, it is the second smartphone in the world after Lenovo Phab 2 Pro to come with Project Tango support. The Zenfone AR aims to combine the augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) experience together. To put into simple words, it turns the surroundings of the user in virtual reality space.
The phone also supports Google’s Daydream, a virtual reality (VR) platform that enables users to explore virtual reality with different apps.
At the heart of the Zenfone AR is a 2.3GHz quad-core Snapdragon 821 processor paired with Adreno 530 GPU. It runs Android 7.0 Nougat with Asus ZenUI and features a 5.7-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED display with 2560×1440 pixels resolution. Armed with a 3300mAh battery, the phone supports Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0. It packs a fingerprint sensor embedded into the home button.
For photography lovers, the Zenfone AR features a TriCam system with 23 mega pixel camera with dual-tone LED flash, f/2.0 aperture, Sony IMX318 sensor, Laser AF, 6P Largan lens, 4-axis OIS, 3-axis EIS. The camera also supports motion tracking and depth sensing technology. Upfront is an 8 mega pixel front shooter with f/2.0 aperture.
