Asus Zenfone 2 Launched In India, Price Starts At Rs. 12,999: Details & Hands On Review

Asus has finally launched its highly anticipated Zenfone 2 in India, today at an event in New Delhi. The Zenfone 2 has been launched in four variants which are now up for pre-orders exclusively on Flipkart.com. The variants can also be grabbed from Asus retail stores across the country. All the four variants share some specifications in common which include 64-bit Intel Atom quad-core processor, 5.5-inch display, Android 5.0 Lollipop OS with Zen UI, 13 mega pixel rear camera with dual-LED flash, 5 mega pixel front facing camera, 3000 mAh battery, microSD slot (up to 64 GB) and 4G LTE support.

The Asus Zenfone 2 is set to be launched at company’s event on April 23  and Flipkart has already created a page for the upcoming handset. The page lists the features of forthcoming flagship along with a video and a countdown timer to the launch date. Furthermore, the page also asks users to signup to “stay up-to-date with the launch” so that the potential buyers know when the device will be available to buy. It is unclear as of now whether the device will be Flipkart exclusive or not however the flagship will not follow flash sales model. Asus is all set to launch its Zenfone 2 on 23rd April 2015 at an event in New Delhi. Asus last month announced that it will be launching the much-awaited Asus Zenfone 2 in India by April last week and now Asus has confirmed the handset will arrive in three variants- ZE500CL, ZE550ML and ZE551ML. According to the company, the phones will feature “world’s best Back Light (HDR) mode and fast charging technology” which is capable of charging up to 60% in just 39 minutes.

Just few months after official showcase at CES 2015, Asus is all set to bring its Asus Zenfone 2 to the Indian market. While Asus has not confirmed the exact launch date yet, the handset will arrive in India by the last week of April 2015, says the company. Asus has launched several variants of the device with 5 inch and 5.5 inch displays in Taiwan lately. There is no word yet on the variants which will be launched in India.

As for specifications, the basic ZenFone 2 ZE500CL variant packs a 1.6 GHz dual-core Intel Atom Z2560 processor, 5 inch display and 2500 mAh battery. The Asus ZenFone 2 ZE551ML with 4 GB of RAM packs a 64-bit 2.3 GHz quad-core Intel Atom Z3580 processor. The 2 GB model on the other hand is powered by a 1.8 GHz quad-core Intel Atom Z3560. The ZenFone 2 ZE550ML also packs Intel Atom Z3560 processor. All the handsets run Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system and houses 16/32/64 GB of inbuilt memory which is expandable up to 64 GB via microSD card. ZE500CL sports an 8 mega rear camera and a 2 mega pixel front facing camera while the other two handsets sport a 13 mega pixel rear camera with LED flash and 5 mega pixel front facing camera. On connectivity front, the handsets come with 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, HSPA, GSM and Micro-USB connectivity options.

The Asus Zenfone 2 ZE500CL is available in Taiwan for TWD 4,990 (around Rs. 10,000), Asus ZenFone 2 ZE551ML is priced at TWD 8,990 (around Rs. 18,000), Asus Zenfone 2 ZE550ML is priced at TWD 5,990 (around Rs. 12,000) and the Asus ZenFone 2 ZE551ML (2 GB RAM) is priced at TWD 6,990 (around Rs. 14,000). It will launch in India on 23rd April 2015 however there is no word on pricing of the handset for Indian market.
