Microsoft has announced new ‘Always Connected’ PCs in collaboration with Asus and HP. The new laptops come with 4G LTE support and 20-hour battery life. The first ‘Always Connected’ PCs will be Asus NovaGo and HP Envy x2. As per Microsoft, the display on the new devices are optimized to turn on instantly (as soon a the lid is lifted). The new Windows 10 PCs are powered by ARM-based Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoCs. Both devices are expected to run a modified version of Office 365. The Asus NovaGo Asus is priced at $499 (approx Rs 32,222) for the 4G RAM/ 64GB internal storage model. The 8GB RAM/ 256GB storage will cost $799 (approx Rs 51,500). The pricing and availability details of the HP Envy x2 are not known yet.

Asus NovaGo
The convertible laptop sports a 13.3-inch full-HD display It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 mobile processor. Users can choose from multiple RAM and storage options – 4GB/8GB RAM and 64GB/128GB/256GB Universal Flash Storage. It runs on Microsoft Windows 10 S. Features include Windows Ink, Windows Hello, and Cortana.
The Asus NovaGo comes with 52Wh battery which offers 22 hours of active usage and 30-hour on standby. It is the first to come with Gigabit LTE support. Connectivity options include two USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A ports and one HDMI port. eSIM and Nano-SIM options will also be available. The new PC measures 316 x 221.6 x 14.9mm and weighs 1.39kg.
HP Envy x2
The HP convertible laptop features a 12.3-inch WUXGA+ display. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor along with 8GB LPDDR4X PoP RAM and up to 256GB internal storage.
The Envy x2 also offers 20-hour battery life and comes with Qualcomm Snapdragon X16 LTE modem. The new PC sports a fanless design. The CNC Machined Aluminium tablet is only 6.9 mm thick and weighs around 0.7kg. Other features include a backlit keyboard with 1.3mm key travel for smooth typing experience.

Conclusion
Microsoft plans to add more devices in the ‘Always Connected PC’ range. The third model is expected to be manufactured by Lenovo. Snapdragon and AMD have also partnered to power Always Connected PCs. We might see more laptops featuring AMD’s Ryzen Mobile processors with Snapdragon LTE modems.
