Apple has unveiled a new variant of its MacBook Pro with Retina display. The refreshed variant features Force Touch trackpad which was originally introduced in 12-inch MacBook and 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display. Besides force touch trackpad, the new MacBook Pro also comes with improved battery life, faster flash storage and faster discrete graphics.
The new 5-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display houses up to 2.5 times faster flash storage as opposed to the previous generation. It also comes with improved battery life and delivers up to 9 hours of wireless web browsing and up to 9 hours of iTunes movie playback.
There are two variants of the new MacBook Pro. One variant features a 2.2GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 with turbo boost speed up to 3.4GHz, 16GB RAM, Intel Iris Pro Graphics and 256GB flash storage. The other variant features a 2.5GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 with turbo boost speed up to 3.7GHz, 16GB RAM, Intel Iris Pro Graphics + AMD Radeon R9 M370X with 2GB GDDR5 memory and 512GB flash storage. The former is priced at $1,999 and latter at $2,499.
The company has also unveiled cheaper model of the 27-inch iMac with Retina 5K display. The new variant is powered by a 3.3GHz quad-core Intel Core i5 processor with turbo speed boost up to 3.7 GHz coupled with AMD Radeon R9 M290 graphics. Other specs of the new iMac include 8GB of RAM, 1TB of storage, four USB 3.0 ports and two Thunderbolt 2 ports. The new iMac is priced at $1,999.
The previous variant of iMac with Retina 5K display packs a 3.5 GHz quad-core Intel Core i5 processor with turbo boost speeds up to 3.9 GHz paired with AMD Radeon R9 M290X graphics. The price of expensive model has been dropped from $2,499 to $2,299.
The updated 15-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display and the new 27-inch iMac with Retina 5K display are now available to buy from company’s online store, company’s retail stores and select Apple authorized resellers.
