On 20th April 2018, Apple announced that the company will offer battery replacement for select non-Touch Bar 13-inch MacBook Pro. The American tech company stated on their website that a limited number of MacBook Pros have had their batteries expand.
The Cupertino based tech giant will be offering free replacement for such batteries. The company has also stated that this offer is not due to any safety issue. “Apple has determined that, in a limited number of 13-inch MacBook Pro (non Touch Bar) units, a component may fail causing the built-in battery to expand. This is not a safety issue and Apple will replace eligible batteries, free of charge. ,” stated Apple on its support page.

The issue has been prevalent with MacBook Pros manufactured between October 2016 and October 2017. The company hasn’t revealed the actual number of MacBook Pros that have been hindered by this problem.
How To Find Out If Your MacBook Pro Is Eligible
The program regarding battery replacement for select non-Touch Bar 13-inch MacBook Pro was posted on its support page. The company posted about the eligibility criteria. The company said, “use the serial number checker below to see if your device qualifies for this program. If your 13-inch MacBook Pro (non-Touch Bar) has an eligible serial number, Apple will replace the battery, free of charge.”
To check if your MacBook Pro is affected by this issue, and needs its battery to be replaced, just go to this link and enter your serial number. If eligible, the user will need to take it to an Apple Repair Centre or Apple Retail Store. It can be taken to an Apple Authorised Service Provider.

The company further said, “your 13-inch MacBook Pro will be examined prior to any service to verify that it is eligible for this program and in working order. Service may take 3-5 days.” Clients who have already paid for the battery replacement earlier will receive a refund. The replacement program won’t extend the standard warranty coverage of the affected MacBook Pro.
Any damage caused prior to the battery replacement (and will hinder the process) need to be resolved. Meanwhile, in some cases, the customer might have to pay an amount of money.
