Along with the new iPhone X, Apple has launched two new iPhone models – iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus. The new models are successors to iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. The 64GB variant of the Apple iPhone 8 is priced in India starts at Rs 64,000, while the 256GB variant will cost you Rs 77,000. The iPhone 8 Plus model comes with a higher price tag of Rs 73,000 and Rs 86,000 for the 64GB and 256GB storage variants, respectively. Both models will be available in India from September 29.
In the US, the 64GB and 256GB variants of the iPhone 8 are priced at $699 (approx Rs 44,700) and $849 (approx Rs 54,300), respectively. While the iPhone 8 Plus will cost you $799 (approx Rs 51,000) and $949 (approx Rs 60,700) for the 64GB and 256GB variants, respectively. The new handsets will start shipping in the US from September 22. Pre-orders start from September 15.

The Apple iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus are powered by A11 Bionic six-core processors and improved GPU (30 percent more efficient than last year’s models). Apple claims that the processor and GPU can perform complex tasks at much faster rate. Both the new models support Qi wireless inductive charging that allows you to charge your smartphone without plugging in a cable.
While the iPhone 8 Plus sports a 5.5-inch touchscreen display with a full HD resolution (1080 x 1920 pixels), the iPhone 8 features a 4.7-inch display with a resolution of 750 x 1334pixels and pixel density of 326ppi.
Apple claims that the new iPhone models come with improved cameras. Even though the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus still feature a 12-megapixel and Dual 12-megapixel camera sensors, photos will have better details and texture. Both new models can shoot full HD (1080p) videos at 240 frames per second. There is also a 7-megapixel front camera on both models.

The new iPhone 8 and the iPhone 8 Plus retain the same form factor and design of its processors. However, new color options (Silver, Space Gray, and Gold Finish) have been added. While the Apple iPhone 8 measures 138.40 x 67.3 x 7.3mm and weighs 148 grams. The iPhone 8 Plus is slightly bigger and heavier at 158.40 x 78.10 x 7.5mm and 202 grams.
Both new iPhone models run iOS 11. Other additions include 25 percent louder speakers. The single SIM smartphones feature Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, NFC, 3G and 4G as connectivity options. Sensors on the devices include Compass Magnetometer, Proximity sensor, Accelerometer, Ambient light sensor, Gyroscope, and Barometer.

While the Apple devices still enjoy a huge following, the iPhone models have lost their charm over last few years. Innovative and more affordable offerings by Chinese manufacturers like Xiaomi and OnePlus have affected the popularity of expensive devices by Apple and Samsung. While many iPhone clones are present in the market at a cheaper price, the new iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus might find it hard to attract eyeballs without any standout feature.
