Apple has finally launched its much anticipated Apple iPhone 6s smartphone at an event in San Francisco. While it retains the same design as its predecessor iPhone 6, the hardware specifications of the device have been bumped up.
As for specifications, it is powered by a 64-bit 1.5GHz Apple’s A9 processor coupled with M9 motion co-processor and 2GB of RAM. The smartphone runs Apple’s iOS 9 out-of-the-box which will be available to existing iOS devices on September 16. It features a 4.7-inch LED-backlit HD display with 1334×750 pixels resolution. The display also comes with Ion-strengthened glass along with oleophobic coating. Based on storage, it will be available in three variants- 16GB, 64GB and 128GB.
The camera department gets some tweaks. It sports a 12 mega pixel rear camera with true tone dual LED flash. It also supports 4K video recording and slow motion video recording 720p at 240fps. There is a 5 mega pixel front facing camera as well. It comes with Retina Flash which turns the display to bright pink while capturing images from front camera to give more light just like flash.
There is no word on battery capacity of the device, however, as per company’s website, it is claimed to deliver up to 14 hours of talk time on 3G and up to 10 days of standby time. It offers 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS as connectivity options. Besides Touch ID fingerprint scanner and Apple Pay feature, the iPhone 6s also boasts of its 3D Force Touch feature which distinguishes between three types of taps- tap, press and long press to perform different functions. The new Touch ID fingerprint scanner is also said to be twice as fast as the predecessor. It also comes with always on ‘Hey Siri’ which lets users invoke virtual assistant without pressing any buttons.

Price & Availability
The 16GB variant of Apple iPhone 6s is priced at $199 and 128GB is priced at $399 with two year contract in the US. The unlocked iPhone 6s will be available for price starting at $650 (approximately Rs 42,500). It is likely to go on sale in the US starting September 25 in four color options: Space Grey, Silver, Gold and Rose Gold. There is no word on Indian pricing and availability as of now.
