The new Amazon Smart Plug allows users to make everyday appliances/ household electronic items into smart products. It features a 3-pin socket design and 6A power rating.

The new device acts as a buffer between the power socket and the appliance. This allows users to use Alexa app or Alexa-enable smart speaker to switch on or off the appliance.

Amazon claims that the new smart plug is easy to set up. It can be operated via a compatible Echo, Fire TV, or any Alexa device. Here’s how to use the new smart plug:

How To Set Up Amazon Smart Plug With Alexa Support

Connect the smart plug into an outlet
Open the Alexa app
Now, you should see “New plug found”
Tap on it and complete the setup

Alternatively, you can set it up manually

Tap on the Devices icon in the lower right of the Alexa app
Next, tap on the ‘+’ icon

Now, you can use the Amazon Smart Plug to turn on or off the mobile charger, lamp, kettle, and other similar appliances.

You can now use the smart plug to say commands like “Alexa, turn on the TV” if your TV is connected to the Amazon Smart Plug.

Note: Amazon advises that it should not be used for heavy appliances like AC, geyser, or water heater.

In terms of dimensions, the Amazon Smart Plug is 46 x 71.3 x 37mm and weighs 104 grams. It features an on/ off button on the left side and an LED indicator on the front.
