Amazon has launched a new waterproof Kindle ebook reader in India. The new Kindle Oasis comes with a six-week battery life and a brighter 7-inch display. The Amazon Kindle Oasis Waterproof comes in two variants. While the 8GB storage model is priced in India at Rs 21,999, the 32GB model (Wi-Fi + free 3G) comes at a price tag of Rs 28,999. It is now available for pre-orders in the country. Shipping starts from November 13. In the US, the base model costs $250 (approx Rs 16,290).
The company has also unveiled a new cover for the new Kindle Oasis which can transform into a stand. The water-safe fabric covers are priced at Rs 2,999 and come three color option (Indigo, Charcoal, and Sandstone). Whereas premium leather covers are priced at Rs 3,999 and come in two color options (Black or Merlot).

The Amazon Kindle Oasis Waterproof Ebook Reader is the latest offering by the online retail giant. It features a bright 7-inch display with a pixel density of 300ppi. The new version of the Kindle Oasis comes with a six-week battery life.
The waterproof tablet comes with an IPX8 rating, which means it can withstand immersion in over 1-metre of water. Now, you can take your favorite books to the bathtub or beach. Connectivity options include Bluetooth.
You can also integrate the new ebook reader with Amazon’s Audible service to stream audio books to wireless headphones or speakers. While you still need to buy ebooks and audiobooks separately, you will be able to access all your books on a single device. Amazon has also updated its WhisperSync system to work with both types of book files. Users will be able to pick up right where they left off last, no matter what device they were using (whether reading or listening).
Unlike the US, the company is not offering a 4G model for the cellular variant in India as yet. The 3G connectivity in the Wi-Fi + free 3G model is enabled by Amazon Whispernet. The company has partnered with Vodafone for this feature. Amazon claims that it will offer wireless coverage in over 100 countries and territories.’
