E-commerce giant Amazon has finally sorted out their strategy to launch Audible in India. The company’s publishing sector has signed Chetan Bhagat– one of India’s most successful English authors– who has left Rupa. Now it seems that this masterstroke is working towards the launch of Audible audiobooks in India. Speculations regarding Audible audiobooks have been doing its rounds for at least a year now.
The company has already been in discussions with HarperCollins, Penguin Random House and Juggernaut to tie-up with Audible audiobooks.

An Amazon India source has said to Gadgets 360, “There were two things that were very important to getting the service off the ground in India, getting the right line-up of authors on board, and getting the pricing right.”
It is being rumored that the company has been working on this project for quite some time, and will go public about it soon enough. The pricing of Audible in India is not yet revealed.

Audible Audiobooks Pricing Not Yet Known
There have been speculations that the e-commerce giant has already started beta testing Audible audiobooks in India. The company will launch it pretty soon, but the pricing is still unknown. It will be cheaper than the pricing in the USA.
It has not yet been confirmed officially by the company if Audible will be sold with any other service in India. Moreover, Amazon’s Echo line-up has been faring well in India. It is a sign of encouragement to the company and could motivate them to launch Audible in India soon. The smart speaker is new in India, and it is not known properly how to use such devices. Adding audiobooks is a relatively unknown entity in India.

Main Competitor
Lately, the American company launched its smart speakers’ line-up with Google. Amazon is currently leading Google as the Echo line has more voice command apps. But Google Home has the functioning to play audiobooks through the Play Books app. Amazon’s smart speakers can use Audible to play audiobooks, but in India, it’s not possible as Audible hasn’t launched here yet.

In India, Amazon has already has introduced music and video streaming with most its related-hardware available. When launched, Audible will be strong in India with its authors and devices available in the country.
