The new smartphone sports a 6.2-inch display with HD+ resolution (720 x 1500 pixels), 19:9 aspect ratio, and 88 percent screen-to-body ratio. The five-point multitouch capacitive screen is protected by 2.5D Asahi Dragontrail glass.
The Alcatel 5V is powered by an octa-core (4 x 2.0GHz Cortex-A53 + 4 x 1.5GHz Cortex-A53) MediaTek Helio P22 processor and 3GB RAM. The 32GB internal storage can be further expanded via a microSD card slot (up to 128GB).
In terms of optics, the new handset sports a dual camera setup on the back. It combines a 12-megapixel primary sensor (with f/2.2 aperture) with a 2-megapixel secondary camera (with f/2.4 aperture). The AI Scene detection is accompanied by PDAF (phase detection autofocus system), burst shot, and EIS (electronic image stabilization). Additional features include a dual-tone flash, HDR, light trace, night mode, panorama, real-time filters, a snapshot in video recording, time-lapse, and video story. There is also a Selfie Album, and Social Mode (Instant Collage, Photo Booth, Easy-Share).
The camera can detect up to 11 different scenes and adjust the camera’s settings to capture optimal images. Additionally, the Google Lens integration (Artificial Intelligence-powered item identification program) with the Alcatel 5V’s camera interface allows users to search for what they see. You can learn more about landmarks, add events to your calendar, look up movie posters, identify popular plants/ animals, find products online, and copy/paste text.
The 8-megapixel fixed focus front camera comes with f/2.8 aperture, EIS, burst shot, and face beautification features. The huge 4000mAh battery offers up to 18 hours of talk time (3G), and 620 hours of standby time (3G). The company claims that the new handset can be completely charged in 2 hours 48 minutes.

The Alcatel 5V sports a metal body design with an iPhone-like notch up front. A fingerprint scanner is placed on the back (alongside the Alcatel logo). The new handset measures 153.7 x 74.55 x 8.5mm and weighs 158grams. It comes in Black and Blue color options.
The highlight of the device is the Face Unlock feature. It can unlock that device within 0.5 second thanks to 106 high-precision facial key points and 30-degree detection radius. Additional sensors on the device include an accelerometer, e-compass, gyro sensor, light sensor, and proximity sensor.
The Alcatel 5V runs on Android 8.1 Oreo operating system. The single-SIM device features Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Wi-Fi direct, Wi-Fi hotspot, Bluetooth 4.0, USB 2.0, GPS, A-GPS, 3.5mm audio jack, NFC, and FM radio as connectivity options.
