Some key aspects which define this phone include a large screen which comes with high quality display, a powerful processor, Dual SIM support, high quality cameras, decent battery and premium design and build. In this review, I will talk about some important performance and design aspects of the Micromax Canvas Nitro A310 including- design, build, display, performance, camera, gaming, battery life, features and software. Lets get started.
Micromax Canvas Nitro A310 Video Review
Micromax Canvas Nitro A310 Design And Build Quality Review
Canvas Nitro has been built quite different from what we have seen so far from the house of Micromax. This time it gets a fake leather finish back which is soft to touch and also has stitch design towards the edges. We have seen this design on Samsung Galaxy Note and Grand 2 in the past, also some other phones has this kind of rear texture. It not only looks premium, but also is pretty soft to touch and breaks the monotony of the plain and simple looking rear panels on the phones. On front sides, you get a shiny bezel around the phone which is fairly slim and does look nice too. The buttons are a part of the rear shell which is removable and the button travel and feel is decently tactile.
The front of the phone gets standard buttons placement under the screen on the bezel. There is no gorilla glass on the offer, but it does seem to be some high quality toughened glass as it resists scratches pretty well. We did a scratch test of the same and could not scratch it with a steel object. The earpiece speaker it towards the top edge of the phone. There are some sensors and a 5 MP front facing camera which is on the front side of the phone.
In terms of build quality, overall feel in hands and quality of construction, the Micromax Canvas Nitro A310 seems well built with no noticeable flex in the panels and uses materials which look good and feel pleasent in hand.
Micromax Canvas Nitro A310 Display Quality Review
Although it is not a full HD Display, its a 720p HD display, but the quality of display more than makes up for that. The Micromax Canvas Nitro A310 uses an IPS LCD 5 inch capacitive display which comes with very good colour quality. The colour temperature, contrast and viewing angles are of very nice quality. Also the display is protected with a toughened glass (check out our scratch test video here). It is a 5 point multi-touch display (tested with Antutu MultiPoint test utility).
Micromax Canvas Nitro A310 Camera Review
Micromax Canvas 13 MP rear camera performs really well and gives sharp images. The front facing camera is also very good on clarity. The rear camera can record full HD videos in good quality.
Some innovative software features on the camera which deserve a mention include:
- Stabilized Shot– With motion sensors of the phone, you can click a shot and it will monitor the camera movements or shake in your hand. The camera will click the picture when it detects that your hand is steady enough, this will ensure clear and blur-free shots.
- Selfie Mode– In this, when the front camera is on, touch on the screen on your face, it will adjust the exposure accordingly. After that hit the volume button, it will start a 3 second time in which you can pose and create a great looking selfie.
- Front / Back Shot– You can click two shots, one with rear camera and one with front and put them on the same frame for a perfect holiday picture or a setting. It seems very interesting.
The overall performance of the cameras is good and delivers good results as per our tests.
Micromax Canvas Nitro A310 Gaming, Performance And Benchmarks
Before I talk about the performance and benchmarks, lets quickly have a look at the specs of the Micromax Canvas Nitro A310:
- 5 Inch 720p HD Display
- 13 MP Rear camera with Auto-focus and LED flash
- 5 MP Front camera with fixed focus
- 1.7 GHz Mediatek MTK6592 Octa-Core CPU
- 2 GB RAM
- 8 GB Internal Memory (5.65 GB User available)
- Micro SD Expansion Slot
- 2500 mAh Li-Ion Battery
- Android Kit Kat 4.4.2
- Mali 450 GPU
General Performance And Gaming Performance
There is no noticeable lag on the phone and it works fairly smooth. The 8-cores of 1.7 GHz and 2GB of RAM coupled with latest Android Kit Kat 4.4.2 give it a blazing fast speed. Also since the display is not Full HD and is 720p, it puts less load on the GPU thus making the graphics even smoother.
We tested Asphalt 8 and Frontline commando 2 on the Canvas Nitro and it has not disappointed us. The games play really well and the graphics are rich, colours are vivid and overall performance is very pleasing. There is some heating observed at the rear of the phone near the camera module, but it is not out control, it gets slightly warm, which is quite acceptable as most phones get warm on gaming.
Taking of benchmarks scores, we ran Antutu Test and Nenamark 2 tests on the Micromax Canvas Nitro A310. The Antutu Score came out to be around 29,000 range while the Nenamark 2 gave us 60 FPS. Both these scores certify that the phone is built to perform well.
Micromax Canvas Nitro A310 Battery Life
The battery life, as expected, from a powerful phone with HD display is around 1 day with the provided 2500 mAh battery. The life is much higher if you are a light user, for moderate users, who play games for 30 to 40 minutes a day, checks emails and facebook frequently and is always connected to either Wifi or 3G, this phone will deliver 12 to 14 hours of battery life which is around one day, so we don’t have any complains here.
Micromax Canvas Nitro A310 Software and Features
One really good thing about the software is that its latest Android Kit-Kat 4.4.2 and has only mild customization. There are 2 very major and noticeable features added by Micromax on the Canvas Nitro which are:
- Quick Look Feed
- Gestures
Quick look is something parallel to Blink Feed on HTC and My Magazine on Samsung. It gives you an easy to consume flipboard like interface on one of the home screens which shows you news feed and your social media feeds on one screen only. The news genres can be customized very easily. We appreciate this feature as it brings premium usability to customers.
Gestures on the Canvas Nitro are another very cool way of quickly interacting with your phone. You can select the actions from a pre-defined list and attach them with a gesture. Like flick of two fingers towards left can play music for you. An upward flick on the screen can open app drawer. There are Multiple features like this which can be attached to multiple gestures.
