The meta-owned messaging app has released a new feature that silences calls from unknown contacts. It has been introduced as protection against increasing numbers of spam calls on the platform.

The new feature silences all calls from numbers not saved in your contact list. However, you can still see a miss call notifications.

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced a new feature last week. It is now available on both Android and iOS versions of the platform. Here’s how to put WhatsApp calls from unknown numbers on silent mode:

• Open the WhatsApp on your smartphone.
• Then, go to ‘Settings‘, and select the ‘Privacy‘ option.

• That’s it!

Note: While ‘Settings’ can be accessed by Android users by clicking on the there-dot option, the iPhone need to tap on the gear icon.
