Leica has launched a new superzoom camera with 16x optical zoom. The new Leica V-Lux 5 is essentially a rebranded version of Panasonic Lumix FZ1000 II (with minor changes). The new Leica V-Lux 5 is aimed at travelers and bloggers. It comes with similar design and features as the Panasonic Lumix FZ1000 II superzoom camera.

The new camera features a 1.0-inch 20-megapixel sensor with 16x optical zoom. It offers an equivalent focal range of 25mm to 400mm. The aperture ranges from f/2.8 to f/4.
The V-Lux 5 has an ISO range of 80 – 12,500 and burst shooting of up to 12fps. It features an electronic shutter. Users can shoot at 50fps. The camera allows you to shoot 4K videos at up to 30fps. It also supports RAW stills.
The Leica camera uses DFD (Depth From Defocus) focusing system to offer fast autofocus (lets you focus in just 0.1 seconds). Along with eye-detection AF, the company has added focus tracking methods like face and object tracking.

The Leica V-Lux 5 features a 3.0-inch LCD TFT display with touch support. It also features a 0.39-inch OLED electronic viewfinder. The company claims that the superzoom camera will let you take 360 shots on a single charge.
The built-in Wi-Fi syncs with the Leica FOTOS app (compatible with both Android and iOS devices). You can share photos and videos directly from the camera to your smartphone. For remote shooting, the camera settings can be controlled from the app.
Additional features of the Leica V-Lux 5 Superzoom Camera include stereo audio recording and support for a single SD card (up to UHS-3 speeds).

The Leica V-Lux 5 is priced in India at Rs 98,000 (originally launched at $1,250). It will be available in the country from mid-August.
