Xiaomi has finally launched the Redmi 7 in the Chinese market. It is an upgraded version of the Xiaomi Redmi 6 (launched last year). The Redmi 7 is priced in India at Rs 7,999 for the 2GB RAM/ 32GB storage variant. Whereas the 3GB RAM/ 32GB storage model costs Rs 8,999. It will be available from April 29 via Amazon India, Mi.com, and Mi Home stores.
The new smartphone is priced in China at a starting price of 699 yuan (approx Rs 7,000) for the 2GB RAM/ 16GB storage variant. While the 3GB RAM/ 32GB storage model costs 799 yuan (approx Rs 8,100), the 4GB RAM/ 64GB storage variant is priced at 999 yuan (approx Rs 10,200).

The new handset is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 632 processor along with 2GB/ 3GB/ 4GB RAM and 16GB/ 32GB/ 64GB internal storage. The 4,000mAh battery comes with an 18W charger.
In terms of optics, the Redmi 7 sports a dual camera set up on the back. It uses a 12MP primary sensor (1.25um, 1/2.9 aperture) and a 2MP secondary sensor. The images are further enhanced with AI features.
For selfies and video calling, it comes with an 8MP front camera. Camera features include AI Smart Beauty, Selfie Timer, and Face Unlock.

The Redmi 7 sports a 6.26-inch display with HD+ (720 x 1520 pixels) resolution, 19:9 aspect ratio, 84-percent NTSC color gamut, waterdrop notch, and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. On the back, it comes with a polycarbonate finish and a circular fingerprint sensor.
The new smartphone comes in three color options – Comet Blue, Eclipse Black, and Lunar Red. It also sports a P2i splash-resistant coating.
The handset runs Android 9 Pie operating system with MIUI 10 on top. Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth v5.0, GPS/ A-GPS, USB, Infrared (IR) blaster, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Recently, Xiaomi has launched the Redmi Note 7 Pro in China. It is priced at CNY 1,599 (approx Rs 16,300) for the 6GB RAM/ 128GB storage variant. The Pro handset was launched in India at Rs 13,999 for the 4GB RAM/ 64GB storage variant. Whereas the 6GB RAM/ 128GB storage model costs Rs 16,999.
