Dell has launched three new Alienware gaming laptops at CES 2019. The Area-51m flagship laptop comes with an upgradeable CPU and GPU. The Dell Alienware Area-51m gaming laptop comes with a starting price of $2,549 (approx Rs 1,77,000). While the price of Dell Alienware m17 starts at $1,649.99 (approx Rs 1,14,600), the Dell Alienware m15 price starts at $1,579.99 (approx Rs 1,09,700). Sales start in the US from January 29.

The flagship gaming laptop comes with multiple unique upgrades. It is powered by desktop-class Intel CPUs (Core i7-8700 – Core i9-9900K), Nvidia GeForce RTX GPUs, and up to 64GB DDR4 RAM. Additionally, you can easily swap the CPU or GPU over the years. It uses socketed Intel Z390 motherboard. The GPU is not soldered in.
The desktop-class Nvidia GeForce RTX graphics cards offer a choice between a GeForce RTX 2060 with 6GB GDDR6 RAM, GeForce RTX 2070 with 8GB GDDR6 RAM, and GeForce RTX 2080 with 8GB GDDR6 RAM. Users can get single, dual and triple storage configurations (from hybrid drives, PCIe M.2 SSDs to even a bunch of them in RAID 0 configurations).
The Dell Alienware Area-51m comes in two color options – Lunar Light and Dark Side of the Moon. The magnesium alloy body sports a new ‘three-knuckled hinge’ design. It weighs a 3.87kg. Additional features include 5th generation of Tobii Eye Tracking technology, AlienFX customizable lighting across various areas, Command Centre for custom profiles, Cryo-Tech 2.0 cooling technology, TactX keyboard (2.2mm of travel), and pre-key RGB backlighting.
The 17.3-inch IPS display comes with full-HD resolution. You can choose from a standard 60Hz panel (with Nvidia G-Sync) and a 144Hz panel (with Tobii Eye Tracking). There is also an option of a 144Hz panel with Tobii Eye Tracking and Nvidia G-Sync.
The HD webcam is accompanied by dual-array mics and stereo speakers. Connectivity options include three USB 3.1 ports (Type-A), a Thunderbolt 3 port (Type-C), HDMI 2.0, Mini-DisplayPort 1.4, headphone and microphone sockets, Gigabit Ethernet, and an Alienware Graphics Amplifier port.
The gaming laptop is backed by a 90WHr battery and ships with two AC power adapters with varying wattage (depending on configuration).

Dell Alienware m17
The Alienware m17 is the company’s thinnest and lightest 17-inch laptop yet. It is powered by 8th generation Intel ‘Coffee Lake’ CPUs (including Core i9-8950HK six-core) and Nvidia RTX GPUs (GeForce RTX 2060, GeForce RTX 2070 Max-Q, GeForce RTX 2080 Max-Q). An Alienware Graphics Amplifier port lets you connect an external desktop-grade graphics card from either Nvidia or AMD.
The gaming laptop comes with two different battery options – 60WHr and 90WHr. Users can choose from single to dual storage options (maxing out with two 1TB PCIe M.2 SSDs). The two RAM slots can house up to 32GB DDR4 memory (running at 2,666MHz).
The 17.3-inch display comes with full-HD/ QHD/ UHD resolution. While the QHD panel has a 120Hz refresh rate, the others come with 60Hz panels. The full-HD webcam is accompanied by dual-array microphones and stereo speakers.
The Dell Alienware m17 is made from a combination of magnesium alloy and copper (for better thermal management. It comes in Epic Silver and Nebula Red color options. The new m-series keyboard comes with 1.4mm of travel and a four customizable RGB zones. It (weighs 2.63kg)
Additional features include AlienFX customizable lighting across six zones, Alienware Command Centre software, Cryo-Tech 2.0 cooling technology, Killer Networks Gigabit LAN, dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5 chip, three USB 3.0 ports, one Type-C Thunderbolt 3 port, HDMI 2.0, LAN, a Mini-DisplayPort, and Windows 10 OS.

Dell Alienware m15
The refreshed laptop is now powered by an Intel Core i9-8950HK CPU and the latest Nvidia GeForce RTX series graphics cards. The 15.6-inch display comes in multiple options (including full-HD IPS panel with 144Hz refresh rate and an HDR-400 certified 4K panel with up to 500nits brightness). Other specs and features are similar to the Alienware m17.
