The Android 9 Pie is a smarter version of the Google OS. It learns and adapts to your usage patterns. For example, the new OS predicts your actions based on the context. It also prioritizes battery power for the most used apps.

- Adaptive Battery – learns the apps you use most and prioritizes battery for them.
- Adaptive Brightness – learns how you like to set the brightness in different settings, and does it for you.
- Navigation – The Android 9 features a single, clean home button. You can just swipe up to see a newly designed Overview. It now supports Smart Text Selection.
- Redesigned Quick Settings – It comes with simplified volume controls, take/ edit screenshots, along with an easier way to manage notifications.

Digital Wellbeing Feature
The new Android OS includes a new Dashboard that shows time spent on the device. Additionally, an App Timer lets you set time limits on apps. Once the time is up, it grays out the icon on the home screen. While a new Do Not Disturb silences pop-ups on the screen, the Wind Down feature allows switches on Night Light and fades the screen to grayscale before bedtime.
This Digital Wellbeing feature will be officially available in the next few months. It will be coming to Android One and other devices later this year. As of now, it is only available in beta for Pixel phones running Android 9 OS.

Google claims that the new OS is more secure from Code-reuse attacks. It comes with an added layer of security to biometrics.
