Huawei sub-brand Honor has launched a new smartphone with Kirin 970 SoC in India. The Honor Play features the company’s latest GPU Turbo technology. The Honor Play is priced in India at a starting price of Rs 19,999 (for the 4GB RAM and 64GB storage variant). The high-end model with 6GB RAM and 64GB storage is priced at Rs 23,999. The new smartphone will be exclusively available via Amazon India (4 PM onwards today).
In China, the Honor Play is priced at CNY 1,999 (approx Rs 21,000) for the 4GB RAM variant. The 6GB RAM model comes with a price tag of CNY 2,399 (approx Rs 25,100).

The Honor Play features a 6.3-inch Full HD+ (1080 x 2340 pixels) display with 19:5:9 aspect ratio, 85 percent NTSC color gamut, and 2.5D glass on top. It is powered by an octa-core Huawei HiSilicon Kirin 970 processor along with Mali-G72 GPU and the built-in NPU (neural processor unit).
Additionally, the GPU Turbo technology enhances high graphics performance with minimal power consumption. The 3,750mAh battery comes with fast charging support.
In terms of optics, the Honor Play sports a dual rear cameras with LED flash and AI features (AI Scene Detection, AI Portrait Mode, etc). It combines a 16-megapixel primary sensor (f/2.2 aperture and PDAF) and a 2-megapixel secondary sensor (f/2.4 aperture). The 16MP front camera comes with f/2.0 aperture lens and 2.0um pixel.

The new handset runs Android Oreo 8.1 operating system with EMUI 8.2 out of the box. Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac dual-band, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, NFC, and USB Type-C.
The dual-SIM smartphone comes in blue and black color options. It measures 157.91 x 74.27 x 7.48mm and weighs 176 grams. The internal storage can be further expanded via a microSD card (up to 256GB).
