Honor has recently launched the successor of their popular phone Honor 6x, called the Honor 7x. It takes forward the legacy of 6x with improved dual cameras, new hardware design, an improved display and many more enhancements on hardware, software and user experience front. With a starting price of just Rs. 12,999, Honor 7x is a strong contender in its segment and hence we compare it with another popular mid-ranger here. In this post, we are comparing the Honor 7x VS Moto G5s Plus. The Honor 7x costs Rs. 12,999 for 32 GB memory variant and Rs. 15,999 for the 64 GB memory variant, while Moto G5s Plus costs Rs. 15,999. Let us find out, which one is better and why? Let us compare both feature-by-feature and see which has more merit to claim the higher position.
Design & Build
In terms of design, both Moto G5s Plus and Honor 7x look very elegant and classy. Both phones use metal and glass design. But because of a different display aspect ratio (18:9), the Honor 7x looks much better and feels more premium compared to Moto G5s Plus. Honor 7x is slightly slimmer and lighter compared to the Moto G5s Plus. Both phones feel robust in hand and have a premium feel to them. I personally feel the Honor 7x is better when it comes to design and build.
Display
The display is one area where Honor 7x clearly outranks the Moto G5s Plus because of its tall and bright 5.93 inches 18:9 edge-to-edge display and very narrow bezels. The front of the phone is mostly display, which makes it look very premium; it looks akin to the phones available in price segments above it because of the display. On the other hand, Moto G5s Plus also features a good quality display panel with a smaller 5.5-inch size and conventional 16:9 aspect ratio, but it does not look as impressive next to an Honor 7x display which is larger in size besides the phones being almost of the same size.
Camera
Moto G5s Plus gets a dual 13 MP Camera setup at rear with Dual LED flash while the Honor 7x gets 16 MP + 2 MP dual camera setup with PDAF and flash. But as per my experience with both the phones, I feel that Honor 7x does a better job at creating the background blur effect (aka portrait effect or depth effect) compared to the Moto G5s Plus cameras. Overall, we find the Honor 7x camera better compared to that on the Moot G5s Plus.
Coming to the front-facing cameras, both the phones have an 8 MP camera. We clicked some selfies with both the phones and found that they are comparable in terms of front camera performance with Honor 7x being slightly better.
Performance
Moto G5s Plus has Snapdragon 625 Chipset with 4 GB RAM and 64 GB Internal memory. With almost stock build of android Nougat, it does perform very smooth without any disruption. I quite like the way it performs. The Honor 7x gets a HiSilicon Kirin 659 CPU with 4 GB RAM and 32 or 64 GB Internal memory. It uses EMUI software (feature rich UI by Honor) on top of Android Nougat. It is also very fast in terms of performance and at par with the Moto G5s Plus in terms of performance.
Battery Life
Both the phones offer a very good battery life. Both the phone have highly efficient processors and fairly large batteries of 3000 mAh on Moto G5s Plus and 3340 mAh on Honor 7x. We did not have battery complains about either of these two phones.
Verdict- Honor 7x VS Moto G5s Plus- Which Is Better And Why?
Although both these phones are very competitive in their own right, we find that the Honor 7x is ahead in terms of design, display and visual appeal. Both phones are close in terms of camera performance, hardware performance and battery life. If I have to pick either of these two phones, I would pick Honor 7x as it offers much more premium design and display with similar performance and price compared to a Moto G5s Plus.
