Sony has added a new full-frame mirrorless camera to its popular A7 series. The new Sony A7R III (follows the A7R II) comes with a 42.4-megapixel full-frame sensor. The Sony A7R III is priced in India at Rs 2,64,990 for the body only. The lSEL24105G lens is priced at Rs. 1,09,990. While the camera will be available from November 24, its lens will go on sale on November 20.

The new Sony A7R III features a 42.2-megapixel BSI CMOS sensor with a new front-end LSI. The company claims that the updated BIONZ X image processor is 1.8 times faster than the A7R II. The new camera allows continuous shooting up to 10fps with full autofocus (nearly twice its predecessor). Improved autofocus speeds offer precise focusing in low light up to -3 EV.
The Sony A7R III uses 399 phase detection autofocus points (covering about 68 percent of the image area) and 425 contrast detection autofocus points. The 5-axis image stabilization in the body offers 5.5 step shutter speed advantage. Additionally, the maximum ISO has been bumped up to ISO 32000 (from ISO 25600). The new camera lets you shoot up to 76 compressed RAW images or 28 uncompressed RAW images in burst mode.

The Sony A7R III is capable of shooting 4K videos using the full resolution of the sensor. You can record videos in Super 35mm format. It also records HLG (Hybrid Log Gamma) metadata. You can also record full HD (1080p) videos at 120fps. A new Sony Imaging Edge software has also been added for pre and post-processing work. Feature include live-view PC remote shooting, RAW development, and Pixel Shift Multi Shooting (shifts the sensor in 1-pixel increments to capture four separate pixel-shifted images).
The new camera features a 3-inch touchscreen for touch focus and an ‘AF On’ button. It also comes with a joystick (on the back of the camera) for navigation and moving focus points. Additional improvements include a higher resolution OLED electronic viewfinder (EVF). The new camera comes with dual SD card slots (for UHS-II and UHS-I cards) and USB Type-C (USB 3.1, Gen1) port.
