Design
The Zenfone 3s Max flaunts its metal unibody design with rounded edges. It is curved towards the edges on the back and offers a very comfortable grip.
On the front, there is a 5.2-inch HD display 72% screen-to-body ratio. Above the display, there is earpiece along with front camera, ambient light sensor and Asus branding.
Below the display, there is home button which doubles up as a fingerprint sensor. There are three on-screen navigation buttons.
Left edge houses hybrid SIM card tray. You can either put two SIM cards (micro+nano) or one SIM card (micro) and one microSD card.
On the right edge, you get volume rockers and power button.
3.5mm audio jack sits on the top edge.
USB charging port, mic and speakers are placed on the bottom edge.
On the rear, there is a 13 mega pixel camera with dual LED flash and Asus branding.
Display
It features features a 5.2-inch HD 2.5D curved display with 1280×720 pixels resolution. It lacks full HD display, which is offered by some other smartphone in the same price range, yet it does not look dull. The screen is sharp and bright with good viewing angles.
Camera
In the photography department, the device sports a 13 mega pixel rear camera with dual LED flash. For selfie lovers, it offers an 8 mega pixel front facing camera. The camera app lets users set white balance, ISO and Exposure. Both front and rear cameras of the handset support HDR. It takes decent images with both rear and front camera. The images come out to be crisp and have good detailing and clarity. Overall camera quality of the phone is good for the price.
Performance
Under the hood, it has a 64-bit octa-core 1.5GHz MediaTek MT6750 processor paired with 3GB of RAM. It does not pack the best processor in the segment, yet it performs pretty well. We tested the phone on AnTuTu benchmarks and it scored around 39600 points. It handles multitasking and gaming with ease. The device houses 32GB of internal memory (expandable via microSD card) and runs Android 7.0 Nougat wrapped under Asus’s Zen UI.
