Huawei has taken the wraps off its two new smartphones- Huawei P9 and P9 Plus. The highlight of these phones is their camera department. Both smartphones feature Leica developed dual 12 mega pixel cameras on the rear with 1.25-micron pixels and Leica SUMMARIT lenses. One of the lenses captures light in color while the other captures in monochrome. This set up promises to offer sharp and detailed images even in low lighting conditions.

The rear camera also comes with hybrid auto focus technology. Both smartphones sport 8 mega pixel front facing cameras.

Besides camera, both smartphones pack in a lot of similarities. There is a HiSilicon Kirin 955 chipset powering both smartphones. They run Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system wrapped under EMUI 4.1.

On the front, the Huawei P9 features a 5.2-inch full HD AMOLED display with resolution of 1920×1080 pixels and is backed up by a 3000mAh battery. The P9 Plus packs a 5.5-inch full HD Super AMOLED display with Press Touch pressure-sensitive technology and comes with a 3400mAh battery. The P9 comes in two variants based on RAM and storage- one with 3GB RAM+32GB storage while other variant comes with 4GB RAM+64GB storage. The P9 Plus comes in just 4GB RAM+64GB storage variant. Both phones support expandable storage up to 128GB via microSD card.

The Huawei P9 measures 145×70.9×6.95 mm and weighs 144 grams while P9 Plus measures 152.3×75.3×6.98 mm and weighs 162 grams. Connectivity options include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC and USB Type-C. On design front, the devices feature metal unibody design with ceramic finishing and thin bezels.

Price & Availability

The Huawei P9 is priced at £449 (approximately Rs. 42,100) for 3GB RAM+32GB storage variant while P9 Plus is priced at £549 (approximately Rs. 51,500). Both phones will be rolled out for sale starting April 16. There is no word on roll out of smartphones in the Indian market.
